The ASC2021 Faculty was made up of a 'Core' group of music industry professionals as well as numerous Guest Speakers. The 'Who's Who' of Australian and International hit songwriters, producers, publishers and music industry professionals, our Faculty members were excited to share their knowledge, wisdom and experience with attendees during the event.

Alan Roy Scott

Our 'Mystery Megastar' in 2010, and Main Seminar Facilitator in 2016 and 2018, we are extremely please to announce that Alan will be returning in 2021 in this leadership role. Alan is a US hit songwriter and songwriting teacher whose songs have been recorded by Celine Dion, Luther Vandross, Notorious B.I.G., Gloria Estefan, Cyndi Lauper, Patti LaBelle, Neville Bros. Roberta Flack, Cher, El DeBarge, Tiffany, Patti Austin, The Spinners, Oak Ridge Boys, Ricky Martin (Menudo), Anne Murray, Johnny Mathis, Pointer Sisters, Sheena Easton, and Ray Charles and many others.

Due to COVID travel restrictions, Alan will present his daily workshops live from the USA including his 'Song Surgery' sessions which always prove popular with attendees.

The hottest writer/producer team in the country, David Musumeci (left) and Anthony Egizii are DNA Songs. Together they have written a string of #1 pop and rock hits recorded by the biggest artists in Australia including Delta Goodrem, Jessica Mauboy, The Veronicas, Dami Im, Reece Mastin and Isaiah Firebrace - not to mention having written and produced a number of Australia's Eurovision entries in recent years!  ASC is thrilled to have David joining us in 2021 to talk about the art of co-writing and producing. With over 30 years experience in music publishing, Matt Donlevy's history in the music industry is long and distinguished.  He spent 30 years as Managing Director of Peer Music, and now heads up the publishing division for Cooking Vinyl Australia. Matt is also a Director on the Board of AMPAL (Australasian Music Publishers Association).  Matt has been involved in our Publisher Pitching Sessions since the very first ASC in 2008, so we are excited that he will be returning in 2021 to speak about publishing and source more great tracks - as well as spend some time with us as a Mentor to attendees.

Brisbane-based Music Supervisor, Tyler McLoughlan, will be joining us for the first time in 2021. Founder of The Sound Pound, Tyler specialises in music supervision and clearances, composition, and sync representation for independent music across advertising, film and TV. Tyler is a passionate copyright & sync educator for both music creators and music users.

Liz has also worked as Head of Legal & Business Affairs at the Mushroom Group, Head of Business Affairs at Lunatic Entertainment (a leading music management business), Legal Counsel for the Laneway Festival and Flying Bark Productions, and she has also held in-house roles at Inertia Music and the TMRW Group (previously Ministry of Sound). Melbourne-based Artist Manager, Colleen Zulian, is a highly respected Music Industry professional. She was President of the Australian Songwriters Association for six years, Event Director for the Melbourne International Blues Festival and Australian Music Week, and she has worked extensively in Publishing.  Together with Songwriter Manager, Diana Torossian, Colleen will be listening to tracks on the Song Pitching sessions and she will take part in the Industry Panel. Colleen was a wonderful ASC Mentor in 2016 and 2018, and we look forward to her sharing her wisdom and knowledge with us again in 2021

Australian artist, award-winning songwriter, international speaker and mentor, and the founder of I Heart Songwriting Club, Francesca comes to us with a wealth of knowledge and experience to share.  In her workshop, 'Getting Creatively Free',  Francesca will share practical tools for overcoming songwriters’ biggest blocks and barriers once and for all. Be inspired to tackle writers’ block, time management, isolation, procrastination and take action to become the best songwriter you can be.

Tim Bern

As one of the creators of the DISCO file sharing platform, Tim will join us live via Zoom from New Zealand to walk attendees through this innovative program for storing, managing, sending and receiving music files.  DISCO is used by many publishing companies and music supervisors across the globe and it's perfect for professional music creators too. Don't miss this session being run during the lunch period on the Saturday at ASC.

ASC Alumni, Kathy Prosser (aka Kathy Possum), is a multi-award winning songwriter and playwright whose passion is delivering environmental awareness and education to the next generation through performing arts platforms. Highly experienced in creating unique income streams and business models using her music, Kathy will present her session on this topic live from the USA where she now lives. Kathy's journey began with the ASC in 2008, and her incredible story, and the knowledge she has gained, will enthral every attendee.

A professional singing teacher for over four decades, Doreen is a popular and long-time mentor at the ASC. Doreen will be on hand throughout the conference to assist attendees with their vocal issues.  Running out of breath? Suffering vocal fatigue? Can't reach those high (or low) notes? No (or too much) vibrato?  Doreen can help with all these issues and more, so feel free to have a chat with her during the event and she will be happy to help.

JACK NIGRO (The Grove Studios)

Onsite Recording Studio: A huge thanks to Jack Nigro for contributing his time, talents and mobile studio for this important feature of the event. He does an amazing job, and together with our other faculty producers, will be on hand each day to assist attendees with demo production info, tips on working effectively with a producer - and you can even lay down some tracks. Jack will also run his popular production workshop in the on-site studio.
