We have the amazing Matthew Donlevy visiting us for the March ASC Sydney Circle workshop. He has been a faculty member at every single Australian Songwriters Conference, and there is always hot competition to sign up for his pitching slots.

With over 30 years of experience in music publishing, Matthew oversees Cooking Vinyl Publishing Australia, tasked with signing and nurturing songwriters from Australia and New Zealand for development both domestically and abroad. He also works with Frankdon Music, and teaches about Music Publishing at AIM.

The night will include a 30 minute talk about publishing and the music industry, plus a Q&A session. We are then foregoing our usual song critiques in the second half to give as much opportunity as possible for attendees to pitch their songs to Matthew. The first verse and chorus will be played, and he’ll have a couple of minutes for feedback, so we expect to be able to get through 15 song pitches on the night. These will be taken in order of registration, which is open until midday on Sunday 17th March.  Register by selecting your ticket/s below.

Attendance is free for members and $15 for non-members (after two free visits as guests).  NB the registration must be made below to secure your pitching slot, but payment will be taken on the door at the event.

FAQ – what type of song is he after?

We asked Matthew this very question during the planning stages of the event, and his reply was that it’s very broad – he never knows what he’ll need in advance, as it changes every week! He can look at anything that people want to pitch, provided there’s a purpose to the song, such as:

* I want to perform and release this myself
* I want to pitch this song to someone else
* I think this song would be really good for tv syncs
etc

So the genre and theme could be just about anything!

ASC Sydney Circle meets on the 3rd Monday each month at
The Cricketer’s Arms Hotel, 255 Darling Street Balmain 2041.

Join us to develop your skills in the craft and business of songwriting, network and collaborate with other members, and be involved in this supportive and cherished songwriting community.

Songwriters of all music genres and all skill levels are welcome to join.

Free entry for ASC Members.

Non-members (casual) can attend their first two Circle meetings for free and pay $15 at the door to attend meetings after that.

Either way – register below to secure your song’s position in the pitching queue!
